Independent Well Rig Supply (IWRS), is a third
generation family owned business, founded in 1961 in Mount Pleasant,
Michigan.
James R Price Sr., the
founder, started out his professional life as a 19 year old oil well driller
in 1934 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. James relocated to Michigan to take
advantage of the exploding oil field drilling opportunities that were
available. James worked for several large drilling companies and later
started his own drilling operation.
James moved to Mount Pleasant
in 1961, and started buying and selling rigs and equipment. IWRS started
out selling the Sanderson Cyclone line of drilling equipment. Sanderson
Cyclone was purchased by Ingersol Rand in 1975.
Independent Well Rig Supply
has steadily grown to become the premier suppliers of water well and
environmental drilling equipment in the Midwest. James Senior, was one of
the founding members of the Michigan Ground Water Association and received
the prestigious “Driller of the Year” award in 1984.
Joined in 1971 by son
James R. (Bob) Price Jr., the company continued to grow. IWRS has
built hundreds of custom made Fleetmaster Pump Hoists. These well servicing
pump hoists are considered tops in their market. IWRS continues to build
these units today.
Starting in 1976, IWRS began representing Simco drilling
equipment until their buyout in 2000. IWRS became a Schramm, Inc dealer in
1986, and quickly has become their primary Midwest dealer.
James R (Jim). Price III
(third generation) joined the organization in 1982. His brother, John
joined the company in 1996. Under the leadership of Bob and his two sons,
Independent has a world-wide client base, and is known for its high level of
ethical and professional business practices.
IWRS specializes in selling
the Schramm Rotadrill brand of new drilling equipment and deals extensively
in the pre-owned equipment market.
